K9 Officers is a nonprofit organization that purchases, trains, and donates K9s to law enforcement agencies across the southern US who need K9 support but don’t have the budget to purchase one.
It costs a total of $20,000-30,000 to place a K9 officer.
- $8,000 – $12,000 to purchase the dog
- $8,000- $12,000 to train, vet, board, and feed the dog during training
- $1,500 – $2,000 Kevlar bulletproof vest
- $1,500 – $2,000 car heat alarm
- Total = $20,000 – $30,000
It is the goal of K9 Officers to place 4-8 dogs per year. That’s why we need YOU.

K9s are specialized officers; therefore, they are used for specialized tasks. If a K9 is on the beat but not being utilized, he or she may sit in a locked vehicle for minutes or hours.
The temperature in a locked vehicle rises dramatically faster and higher than outside ambient air. When it’s 95 degrees outside, it could reach an incredible 143 degrees in a parked vehicle.
